Reflection On Web Conference 3/6/11

Wow, what a speed reading event. Over 100 participants. I knew very little about web conferencing before tonight. Had mixed preconceived notions about what a web conference was. Dr. Abernathy did a good job of trying to answer everyone's questions. Most times, other students answered the questions before Dr. Abernathy could read them. I think this is the most valuable feature of the web conference. This peer tutoring and information sharing creates a stronger learning community. I have done nothing with web conferencing in the past. I know plan to find ways to create web conferencing opportunities for my teachers and students. It will be a great way to exchange ideas and answer questions. Reading the transcripts of the past conferences probably would have answered most of the students questions before our conference even began. In the future, I will read the transcripts of the other conferences. Thanks for the conference tonight. It was VERY educational.
